Hearing Loss

Today in Multimedia class we learned about sounds and noises and how people hear them. I learned that sound travels in waves, which is why you hear echoes sometimes. You can measure sound by how loud they are. Like a library would be softer, and then a night club or a concert would be higher on the scale. I learned that a lot of younger people are starting to lose their hearing because of ipods and other loud noises throughout the day. Even fire alarms, or fire trucks going by, things that are very loud throughout the day can hurt your hearing.
My class also watched a video about hearing loss from the Today Show. It was about this man that was  experiencing hearing loss and was embarrassed to wear a hearing aid, but the doctor showed him that you can have hearing aids that aren't even noticeable. Also in the video it showed Matt Lauer checking his hearing and even a little ear bud that he wears to work everyday can effect your hearing, also the video showed that you should get your hearing checked. When I watched the video I thought to myself that I listen to my ipod everyday, so I wonder how my hearing is? Or how it will be effected as I get older. I have to think about turning my ipod down, and going to a lower level of sound.
